Timothy McClain
Timothy McClain serves as enterprise lead for the strategy related to military and veterans affairs. He is responsible for ensuring there is a consistent focus on increasing the spend and investment on Veteran-owned small businesses and ensuring talent and recruiting strategies align with the MetLife Veterans Initiative.
McClain joined MetLife in November 2014 as a Cisco-certified routing and switching engineer at MetLife’s Global Technology & Operations campus in Cary, NC. In this role, McClain provided deep subject matter expertise and helped lead solutions delivery for MetLife’s U.S.-based data center networks. Upon separating from the military, McClain fulfilled a promise to himself to give back to his community. He did this by serving as Executive Director for the Durham, NC chapter of Communities in Schools, a national non-profit focused on surrounding at-risk students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
McClain is a combat Veteran, having served in various campaigns, including deployments to Southwest Asia, Iraq and Haiti. McClain served in both the 3rd and 7th Special Forces Groups was a commander in the 112th Signal Battalion at Fort Bragg, NC, the largest special operations signal unit in the world. McClain is a United States Army Ranger.
Outside of work, McClain volunteers his time with the USO, Valor Games and the North Carolina High School Athletic Association. He is also a NCAA college basketball official
