Tuesday, June 14th at 5pm, the North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (NCDMVA) will host the U.S. Army’s 247th birthday cake cutting and reenlistment Ceremony at Segra Stadium, Fayetteville, to celebrate the day on which the first United States military. Distinguished guests will include North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Secretary Walter Gaskin, United States Army Forces Command, Deputy Commanding General - Army National Guard, Major General Troy D. Galloway, Unites States Army Forces Command, Command Sergeant Major Todd Sims, and city officials from Fayetteville, Town of Hope Mills, and Town of Spring Lake among other officials.
This temporary display, on view throughout Black History Month, is a collaboration between NCDMVA, NC Museum of History, Elizabeth City State University School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and State Archives of NC to collect, preserve, and display NC’s Black veterans’ stories for future generations.
